About Danube Valley Nature Park

Danube Valley Nature Park extends along the Middle Danube River in southern Germany, encompassing parts of both Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria. The park covers diverse landscapes including river valleys, limestone cliffs, steppes, wetlands, and mixed forests. Its unique geological formations from the Jurassic period and the continuous flow of the Danube shape the park's dynamic environment. The area is home to many rare plant and animal species, including several protected birds such as the black kite and white stork. The park’s cultural history spans centuries, with archaeological sites, historic villages, and castles lining the valley, reflecting human settlement dating back to prehistoric times. Visitors can explore well-marked hiking and cycling trails that connect across the region, offering opportunities for nature observation, photography, and paddling activities. The park is a favored location for fishing, especially fly fishing in the tributaries and slow-moving stretches of the Danube. Several observation towers and lookout points provide panoramic views of the river valley, its floodplains, and surrounding hills. Throughout the year, the Danube Valley Nature Park acts as a habitat corridor for migrating species and supports long-term conservation initiatives. Guided tours, educational programs, and local visitor centers provide insights into both natural and cultural heritage, making the park an accessible and enriching destination for outdoor enthusiasts and families.
